Symphony Chorus and Chamber Singers (Sydney Philharmonia Choirs)

The Symphony Chorus is considered to be the finest of its size in Australia, receiving outstanding reviews for performances of JS Bach St John Passion, Faure Requiem, and in concerts with Sydney Symphony Orchestra including Berlioz Te Deum and Beethoven Missa Solemnis.

With up to 150 members, Symphony Chorus performs alongside the world's best conductors and soloists at the highest standard of excellence. This highly skilled group of musicians sing a diverse range of repertoire from early Baroque and Renaissance, through to 20th Century classical and everything in between.

In 2017 Symphony Chorus will perform in St Matthew Passion on Easter Saturday at the Sydney Opera House, Tudor Portraits at City Recital Hall, and in Handel's Messiah at Christmas.They will also sing in Last Night of the Proms, Pelleas and Melisande, Mahler's Symphony No. 3 and Belshazzar's Feast with the Sydney Symphony under the baton of the world's great conductors Vladimir Ashkenazy, David Robertson and our Music Director Brett Weymark.

The dynamic Chamber Singers are renowned for their exceptional performances and professionalism, the Chamber Singers are a 32-voiced ensemble that perform at the highest standards and are often engaged for commercial performances and corporate functions. In 2016 the Chamber Singers recorded the work of Australian composer, Dan Walker, and have performed in the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs concert series.

We are looking for experienced singers to join our choirs. The complex and challenging repertoire performed by Chamber Singers and Symphony Chorus means you must be able to read music to become a member of the choirs. We are pleased to invite you to join us at one of our open rehearsals with the choirs. Tenors and basses are strongly encouraged to join these open rehearsals.
