French Australian Voices of Sydney (FAVS)

Amandine Petit, FAVS artistic director and conductor, is a freelance soprano, singing teacher and choir-conductor. She came to Australia 8 years ago after having completed her post-graduate studies in music and working in France and has led the FAVS choristers for six years.

The French-Australian Voices of Sydney (FAVS) is a community choir based in Sydney aiming to explore the French and Francophone repertoire. Created in January 2013 following a restructuring of the former Sydney French Choir, this un-auditioned choir has previously sung in jazz venues in Newtown and Enmore, in the Blackheath Choir Festival, and regularly sings at Paddington Uniting Church in December. Half the choristers are French long-term residents in Sydney, and half Australians who speak French and/or use the language in their work. FAVS rehearse weekly at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) in Redfern.
