Singcognito formed in April 2001 with the leader being a university music student with the task of forming and leading a choir as part of her training.

That person was Sarah Stagg and was leader of the choir through to December 2013.
Elaine Yates has taken over the leadership from February 2014.

The name "Singcognito" came about from the fact that many of the early members (including Sarah) were very nervous about singing in public and felt they would like to be incognito, so a number of the early appearances had the members coming on stage wearing sun glasses for the first song or two.

Singcognito, with quite a varied repertoire, have performed at many charity concerts and public events over the years, as well as entertaining the elderly citizens of nursing homes from time to time.

The number of members turning up to practices have been in the low 40's but there is a core group of about 25 to 30 members who take part in concerts.

New members are welcome at any time and do not need to audition to join as we are a Community Choir. Just turn up and settle in to learn whatever we are practising at the time.

Singcognito practice night is Monday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Launceston Elderly Citizen's Club Hall, 16 Landale Street, Invermay, Launceston Tas.

Note: Practices are not usually held on long weekends or School Holidays unless we need to practice for an imminent concert.
